June’s theme is REFRESH with the colour TURQUOISE! Refresh your spirit and rejuvenate your soul as you dance to express, not to impress. Wear the colour turquoise or bring a turquoise stone in your pocket. As ocean waves ebb and flow, get ready to shake out the old and bring in the fresh, new, spring energy!
Never tried Ecstatic Dance? Ecstatic Dance is a free-form movement practice that encourages self-expression and connection with others.
Think of it as dancing in your living room except with a live DJ, or a recorded set list, and a loving community of others all moving to the beat of their own drum together.
In 1.5 hours we move through the 5 Rhythms of music. First, a meditative state to connect to our space and into our body. As the beats per minute increase, your body will invite you to move to the rhythm, showing you how it wants to move. Peaking at the highest level, we move to release and let go of any stress, pain and imbalances while shaking it all out. Then shifting into a state of joyful play and beats to slow down the heartbeat. Finally finishing the dance in gratitude and back into a state of meditation.
We invite you to explore your inner world and unleash your authentic self through movement. The music will guide you as you dance in comfy clothes, barefoot (or socks) and drug/alcohol free. During the dance there is no talking on the dance floor so you can honour yourself and get lost in the present moment. Socializing is before and after the event.
Whether you are an experienced dancer or new to the practice, this event welcomes everyone ages 16+. No previous dance experience is required, and there are no steps to follow. Just let the rhythm move you and express yourself freely. You will connect with like-minded individuals in a safe and non-judgmental space.

Everyone CAN dance and if your body wants to move, it will show you HOW it wants to move. There is no judgment. No one will be watching you as everyone is moving to their own grooves. If you close your eyes, your body will tell you!
The time and space is there for you to be in the moment with your own thoughts, feelings and movement. Although dancing on the floor with others in community, we respect how each person has their own experience.
We tend to live in a world where we believe we can't dance and express ourselves freely without having drugs and alcohol. Ecstatic Dance is meant to support you in connecting with your body's own language. It's a personal journey dance which will allow you to move the way your body wants to move.
