Edmonton and Area ECS Full Day Work Shop - First Nations, Métis and Inuit...
Thu, 4 May 2017, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM MDT
AISCA invites all ECS Operators to send ECS teachers and administrators to the full day Workshop on Thursday, May 4th in Edmonton.
The morning will be a follow up to the AISCA First Nations, Métis and Inuit sessions held in December, however, if you did not attend in December you are still encouraged to attend this second Workshop. The morning session will focus on two key activities: the first is the Blanket Exercise. The Blanket Exercise is a hands on way to explore the nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada, to work toward reconciliation and to empower people to build bridges of understanding and respect. The second half of the session will be a round table discussion on what reconciliation means for your ECS program. The discussion will consider current initiatives that might be occurring, possibilities your program could pursue, barriers to reconciliation in your local context, and next steps forward.
The afternoon will be an ECS sharing session with an opportunity to share good ideas about teaching resources, student resources, books, apps, software, manipulatives, fidget, educational programs, field trip ideas, best practices and anything else worth sharing. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions of each other in areas we feel we could use some help.
AISCA will provide lunch, cover actual substitute costs and travel expenses as per policy for those coming from out of town. This event will be held in the Commercial Room, at the Chateau Louis Conference Centre 11727 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton.
Should you have any questions about this workshop, please contact Connie at the AISCA office at 780-469-9868.
