The Manitoba Section of the Alpine Club of Canada is headed into the Lake O’Hara area for a family-friendly hiking / adventure trip! The ACC-MB has reserved the entire hut – 24 spaces! The trip will be four nights beginning Tuesday, July 30, 2024, checking out Saturday morning August 3, 2024.

One of ACC's most accessible and popular huts, the Elizabeth Parker Hut is located in a beautiful alpine meadow 500 metres from the shores of Lake O’Hara in Yoho National Park. The hut is an excellent family friendly base for hiking, scrambling and climbing. The Lake O’Hara area is famous around the world as a hiker’s paradise, with its sublime alpine lakes and scenery, amazing network of hiking trails and alpine routes.

Per-person costs include:

  • Hut fees: 17 & older: $60/night, 16 & under: $30
  • Parks Canada bus fees: About $16 for adults, $8 for 16 & under, children under 5 are free (bus will be reserved by ACC MB). The bus will be booked by the club. Wilderness passes will not be charged this year.
  • All other costs: are the responsibility of the participant, including park pass, travel, and meals

Payment equal to two nights of hut fees must be paid by May 1 to confirm your spots. Space is limited, so spots will be filled on a first-come/first-serve basis. Final payment must be paid no later than June 15, 2024. Once registered, you will be contacted by the trip leader Marilyn at marilynmc60togo@gmail.com to make arrangements for payment.

Other trip information:

If participants wish, within one month of the trip the club will hold a Trip Meeting to facilitate any carpooling or planning around objectives.

Each person or family group is responsible for their own transportation planning, accommodation planning before or after the hut booking, meal planning and equipment.

Important Notes:

  • To participate in this trip you must be a member of the Manitoba Section of the Alpine Club of Canada.
  • All participants or their legal guardians are required to review and sign the club’s waiver to participate in this event. Download and read through the waiver
  • There is no need to print or sign the waiver ahead of the event. The trip leader will be reviewing it with you and collecting your signature prior to the start of the event.
