Financial Literacy Facilitator Training


Purpose of Course

The training is an online course that prepares frontline staff to deliver an easy-to-use curriculum that covers a range of financial topics. The course provides an orientation to the content, facilitation basics and explores how to adapt the Prosper Canada Centre for Financial Literacy’s curriculum to the needs, context, interests and learning styles of the specific groups that you serve.

  • Module Four: Banking and Financial Services
  • Module Five: Saving
  • Module Six: Credit Basics

  • Module Nine: Consumerism
  • Summary and Next Steps
  • Quiz and Post-evaluation


Upon completion of the training you will receive:

  1. The curriculum in PDF format containing all nine modules
  2. Access to online evaluation tools
  3. A PowerPoint presentation template
  4. A certificate of completion


Criteria for Participation:

This course is open to frontline staff that work with Canadians who are new to Canada and who are willing to:

  • Participate in the full seven weeks (approx 2-4 hours per week) of online training, including discussion forums
  • Provide post-course feedback to Prosper Canada regarding the online training experience
  • Deliver a workshop within six months of receiving the training to at least 15 newcomers to Canada

January 16, 2017 - March 3, 2017

COST:

Free: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) funded training

By submitting your registration, you are acknowledging the following:

  • I am a staff member or volunteer from a non-profit organization or a social service program (e.g. Social Assistance, Public Health, etc.) which serves vulnerable populations or populations living on low incomes.
  • I understand that the Prosper Canada Centre for Financial Literacy’s curriculum and tools are for non-profit use only, and are not to be delivered or distributed for a fee.
  • I have the consent of my organization’s senior management to participate in the Prosper Canada Centre for Financial Literacy’s Facilitator Training workshop.
  • When copying or distributing any portion of the curriculum content, I will credit the Prosper Canada Centre for Financial Literacy, and provide a link to www.prospercanada.org when possible.
