Intended Audience:
Fire Department Officers
Overview:
Designed in response to common needs identified in Indigenous Fire Departments, Fire Department Management Essentials examines three key areas essential to effective Fire Department Operations: Policies and Guidelines, Occupational Health and Safety, and Critical Incident Stress Management.
Facilitated by IFMS Program Delivery Specialists this interactive workshop teaches the concepts and then invites detailed conversation using real-life examples to work through meaningful exercises.
Fire Department Management Essentials provides an environment for Fire Department Officers to explore how to address current challenges in their department. By gathering as a group, participants are able to learn from IFMS experts and each other as well as building peer support networks.
Outcomes:
Participants will understand the differences between policies and guidelines, how and when to use each, and have the knowledge and resources to develop and implement Standard Operating Policies (SOPs) and Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) that meet their department’s needs.
Participants will understand the Occupational Health and Safety roles and responsibilities of a Fire Department.
Participants will understand the components of a successful Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program and be able to implement one that meets their department’s needs
