This interactive workshop looks at the steps involved in building, implementing and maintaining a fleet management program.

About this event

Intended Audience:

Fire Service personnel responsible for Fire Department vehicles and apparatus.

Overview:

Fleet management and apparatus maintenance are essential components of a successful fire department. This interactive workshop looks at the steps involved in building, implementing and maintaining a fleet management program. Components include vehicle types, maintenance and service cycle, inspections, planning, costs, and apparatus life cycles. The second part of the program takes a close look at preventative maintenance including the actions taken to appropriately conduct apparatus inspection and maintenance.

This is a prerequisite for 4.2 Fire Officer training

Outcomes:

Participants will be able to develop and implement a fleet management and apparatus maintenance program that supports the community in realizing the full lifespan of capital assets, and ensuring vehicles and apparatus are in service when needed for response.

All sessions are delivered via Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with the application before the scheduled start time.

Links for the meeting and to download the participant materials are included in the online event page. You will also receive these in reminder emails one week, one day and one hour before the session.

We welcome participation from all Indigenous People and those who work or volunteer in the field of emergency services for indigenous communities.

Classes start promptly at the advertised time. To avoid disrupting the class, and to ensure all participants have the opportunity to learn all the material, if you are late for the session you may be unable to join.

IFMS training sessions may at times be recorded. Such recordings are used to continue developing the effectiveness of our training and instructors. The recordings will be deleted upon evaluation of the instructor.

The National Indigenous Fire Safety Council Project is the result of a new Indigenous developed framework designed to support Indigenous communities in development of their internal capacity to support community safety and resiliency. The NIFSC Project is Indigenous inspired, designed and led in collaboration with regional and national Indigenous communities, organizations and leaders.
