Hip Bang - Vancouver
Hip.Bang! is a Canadian Comedy Award-nominated improv and sketch comedy duo from Vancouver whose playful, absurd scenes have delighted audiences around the world.
They have appeared at all manner of comedy and theatre festivals, including the 2013 and 2014 SF SketchFests, NXNE, Rapid Fire Theatre’s Improvaganza, the Del Close Marathon, the Detroit Improv Festival, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas, and many more!
Sketchy Alley - San Francisco
One of Harold’s favorite hideouts, Sketchy Alley is a portal to a place where anything is possible, and everything is real. Sometimes, the places that scare you the most are the very places that you learn the most about yourself. Sometimes, a visit to these places will color every subsequent decision, and further define your identity. Step through the magic door. Let us be your guides through a space-time butterfly effect, where one word from the audience decides the world, character, and the themes of the rest of our set. Will things get weird? Yes. And, you’re welcome. Sketchy Alley performs a narrative Harold – an improvisational long-form developed by Del Close in collaboration with Charna Haplern.
Broke Gravy - Portland
When Chris Williams, Eric Simons, and Leon Anderson hit the stage, they do so with ears, eyes, and minds wide open. First by interacting with the audience beyond the usual peg, they launch into a set where the smallest dot in one scene can take on the focus of a solar system in the next. Unique, fearless, fast, and patient, Broke Gravy is a feast you won’t soon forget.
Grim Diesel - Toronto
Grim Diesel is a Second City Toronto Longform Grad Team / supergroup. They perform a loose Harold with a focus on ensemble. Their sets are fast and cerebral. Check out their brand of weird, wry, and what’s called “the Grim Diesel special.”
‘SpeakEasy’ is the improvised poetry duo of Dave Morris and Missie Peters. Dave Morris is an improviser and the director of Paper Street Theatre co. Missie Peters is an award winning poet and a two-time Victoria Slam Champion. Together they have performed their unique blend of theatre and poetry at festivals such as the Victoria Fringe Festival, London’s Slapdash Improv Festival, the Berlin International Improv Festival, and most recently at IMPRO Amsterdam 2016. A show so unique that you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll laugh-cry.
Missed Connections - Calgary
“You sat across from me on the train. We couldn’t stop staring at each other. I wish I had said hello.” – Anonymous
Missed Connections is an improvised comedy show inspired by real-life missed connections ads on Craigslist. Featuring Andrew Phung, Ali Froggatt, Michael Roik, Ellis Lalonde, Renee Amber, and Anyssa McKee, this laugh out loud show will show you what happens when you DO find that person you’re looking for.
