Event description

Description

The first Speaker Series event complementing the Toast to the Coast: An EPIC 150 Years wine exhibit at the Chimczuk Museum will focus on Windsor-Essex’s prehistoric past and its significance to our region’s wine industry today.

Although the last Ice Age ended 17,000 years ago, its effects still impact the way our wines taste and make them distinct from Niagara and Prince Edward County wines, though they are produced only a few hours drive up the 401. On September 14th, come discover our region’s geologic roots, learn about it’s climate, and how geology and climate connect to EPIC (Essex Pelee Island Coast) wines. Tickets are $15.00 and include hors d'oeuvres and a wine tasting.

Presentation is by Dr Alan Trenhaile and Dr Maria Cioppa of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Schedule:

7:00 Doors Open, Hors d’oevres, EPIC1867 wine

7:30 Seminar 1 (with wine tasting)

8:00 Break with hors d’oeuvres

8:15 Seminar 2 (with wine tasting)

9:00 Event closes
