Discover the creative possibilities of photography through an exploration into the elements that go into making a photograph. This series of presentations will help you better understand your own visual process and how the camera can help to express it.

This full-day seminar is open to anyone looking for new ways of seeing–from novices to seasoned pros who want to bring a fresh approach to their work and are interested in improving the way they see and use the camera.

Richard Martin

1. Vision & Discovery

A presentation in Personal Photography and Vision with an emphasis on how to see photographically, including the visual, intellectual and intuitive elements that go into making a photograph.

2. Learning to See in Colour

Develop your ability to perceive and use colour in a more dynamic way and increase your awareness of the possibilities of colour in your own photography. Gain a more sensitive appreciation for colour nuances. We will examine the poetry of colour in a variety of situations including, nature, early morning light, dusk, fog and rain, bright sun and deep shadows.

Stephen Patterson

1. Finding Rhythm in Chaos

The tangle of Nature: finding and creating compositions in the chaos of nature.

Creative expression in the Urban Landscape: finding the underlying subtleties in the natural decay of the urban environment, inspired by abstract art and painting.

2. Colour Movements Exploring the use of multiple exposure, montage, camera

movement, reflections, moving water and other subjects in the quest for personal artistic expression.



This event will include door prizes, a raffle, and a trade show sponsored by Camera Kingston. Doors open at 8:30 am.
