Our Legendary Gastown Food tour takes you through the cobbled stone streets of Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood. Enjoy local craft beer, Japanese Karage chicken, freshly made Sicilian Tortellini with local wine, vegan sweet & chili cauliflower, traditional Canadian poutine, decadent waffles and creamy hot chocolate. On this 3 hour walking food tour, you will be led by our talented and amazing storytelling tour guides who will share fascinating and funny little-known stories about Vancouver and its “Wild West” history that dates back 150 years. We make several stops for food and beverage tastings. For most people, there is enough food tastings that they feel they had a full meal. You should come hungry!
Gastown Tour is a walking tour of approx. 3 hours in length, and we sit down at a few venues. We walk at a very casual pace and the tour runs for 5-6 city blocks. We like to think of it as a leisurely stroll. There are 3 stops with stairs and only one of them has an elevator. 5 of the stops are sit
Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Any special requests must be made 24 hrs before tour. We cannot take responsibility for any allergic reactions. Note that the substitute tastings may not be up to par with original tastings.
Yes, 3 alcoholic drink tastings are included. We offer non-alcoholic options. Alcohol can only be served to tour guests over 19 years of age (As per BC Liquor Law). Tour guides reserves the right to ask for 2 pieces of ID. We don’t accept anyone underage of 19 without an accompanied adult.
There is a maximum of 16 people per tour, and we require a minimum of 4 guests for a tour to operate. We reserve the right to cancel any tour that has less than 4 tour guests.
Tickets are 100% refundable with the option to reschedule with 24 hours advance notice. No refunds for no show or late comers.
Tour operates rain or shine. Vancouver tends to get a lot of rain October-April. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather on the day of your tour.
Yes, we currently only offer tours in English.
Children are welcome on all our tours. Please bear in mind that some children may struggle to stay focused for the duration of a 3-hour tour. Tours are typically quite structured and focused, meaning it may not be appropriate for all children. Strollers cannot be accommodated due to smaller venues.
Due to the health regulations that govern the various food establishments we visit; pets of any kind are not allowed on our tours. Only authorized guide dogs are allowed.
Unfortunately, Gastown Food Tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs due to the many narrow sidewalks, uneven cobblestone streets and certain staircases that we use when entering food partner establishments. We suggest booking The Shipyards Tour instead.
If a tour does not meet the minimum required number of 4 tour guests, Taste Vancouver Food Tours reserves the right to cancel the tour and reschedule tour guests to another date or give a refund.
