During this session, our panelists will share their personal career journey lines – the unique paths they have taken, through critical events, decisions, career and personal highs and lows, to get to where they are today.

Soula Stathakis - Managing Director at Accenture

Soula advises clients on how to successfully achieve business outcomes and transform organizations in Accenture's Technology practice dedicated to the Resource sector. She has delivered outstanding results as a trusted leader in various consulting practices, including IBM, PwC Consulting, and Omnilogic. She has served as a national Program Leader for recruiting and onboarding university graduates into consulting, as an Executive Sponsor for Advancing Women in the workplace, and as faculty for IBM's Leadership Development program. She has been recognized with a number of awards, including the Best of IBM award for its top 500 performers globally. Soula can also be found hanging out with family and friends, exploring new places, and learning new things.

Melanie Weber - VP Syncrude Asset Management at Suncor Energy

Melanie has 30 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry, with a degree in Electrical Engineering from UofA, and an MBA from UofC. She has had varied experience over her career starting at Nova Gas Transmission, Amoco heavy oil, technical & managment consulting, and finally at Suncor in various roles for the past 16 years. Melanie has a 23-year old daughter and 19-year old son both currently in university. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and live music.

Joe Lougheed - Partner at Dentons

Joe Lougheed is a Partner in the Calgary ofice of the global law firm Dentons, where he has practised since 1992. He focuses on general corporate law, private equity, private M&A and corporate governance and serves on the boards of various private companies and trusts. Joe is currently the Honorary Consul for the Government of Sweden in Southern Alberta, serves on the Advisory Board of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative and the Banff Forum.

Mike Bell - Business Development Manager at Primoris Willbros Canada

Michael Bell is a Business Development Manager in the oil & gas sector representing Primoris Willbros Canada. Michael is a registered Professional Engineer and also completed his MBA from the Ivey Business School. Michael is passionate about diversity and inclusion and is the founder of the non-profit “Calgary Inclusive Hockey Association” and a regional ambassador for the “You Can Play” Project. Both organizations focus on education and facilitating safe environments for LGBTQ+ individuals in sport.

Accenture’s annual celebration of International Women’s Day has become a vital part of our commitment to building a diverse workforce. Last year, Accenture employees and clients in 48 countries participated in over 350 International Women’s Day activities. In Calgary, approximately 250 members of our community came together for a morning filled with engaging conversation and outstanding key note and Journey Line speakers.
