About this event

The online workshops will consist of three-part creative series for FIC & SFU students of all genders who have experienced any form of sexual violence.

In this guided intermodal expressive arts therapy workshop, participants will explore the SAAM 2022 theme of community care by creating affirmation cards. We will be utilizing creative writing and mixed media collage as a guiding tool to generate personalized affirmation cards for self and/or loved ones. You do not need to have any experience with art to attend this workshop.

Via Zoom, 12:30pm-1:30pm. Wednesdays January 19, January 26 and February 2

For suggested supplies, participants will need:

*paper (cardstock or thicker paper would be ideal)

markers, pencil crayons, crayons, pencils (anything that makes marks!)

magazines / images to cut

scissors

glue

a somewhat private area (if this is not possible, ensure you have headphones on to keep you grounded in your creativity)

a meaningful object that can aid in holding space for you and your creativity (it can be a rock, a crystal, a stuffed animal, a plant, etc)

*journal / notebook

*pen

Other than paper + notebook, all other materials are suggestions. Work with what you feel connected to at the moment. While you are searching for supplies that you may want to use, think about both traditional and non-traditional art supplies. Look in places that you may not expect to find something that may make marks. Approach searching for supplies with curiosity! If you are feeling stuck, heather have a list of supplies here:
