Description

A BODYMIND JOURNEY
THROUGH THE SPINE:

Gyrokinesis(R) is a somatic movement method to help you connect with your body’s natural intelligence and discover functional ways to move from an internal perspective.

GYROKINESIS(R) movement method addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is about connecting your consciousness to the root and completion of each movement, coming full circle. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath and mental focus.

This method assists in connecting to a deeper energetic core and structural support, which helps to release tension, stiffness, and the rigidity that we carry from our past and present experiences. The focus on whole body movement flow and the flow of breath creates a new sense of efficiency, freedom, and functional integrity in the body.

Class starts with an awakening of all the senses, followed with awareness into the spine, and the natural ways it provides functional support in movement. Focus on the breath stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in a sense of calm, well being, and mental clarity. By the end of a Gyrokinesis session, one’s entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance.

Ambient sounds will be played throughout the workshop followed by a musical and movement improvisation, to integrate the information for more creative movement in everyday life.

Michelle Muller is a certified Gyrokinesis instructor also trained in Gyrotonic. She has her MSc in Neuroscience and has experience working as a neuromolecular researcher, mental health worker, neurofeedback technician, science writer, and working with children with disabilities. She is passionate about the study of bodymind and establishing ways to integrate this knowledge into her life. Her own experience suffering from a severe motor vehicle accident and chronic injuries for years is what led her to finally seek the change she needed to heal herself from an internal perspective. These exercises (re)-introduced her to a sense of freedom, opening, relaxation, and support, as we once learned as children just learning to move.

Shane Connon and Matthew Thomson are musicians from Huntsville Ontario and have a band called Conscious.
