Event description

Description

Are you passionate about your neighborhood's parks?

Do you want to provide your opinion to a valuable research study?

Who?

UBC's Urban Forestry research team is conducting a study to analyze and promote community awareness on the value of on-campus greenspaces in our community neighborhoods and we need your help!

What?

On Saturday, July 15th from 12-2 pm, we would love it if you would take on the role of being a 'rec-mapper' with the support of the Research Team. The volunteer party is open to all ages (families and children welcome) and we will provide you with the supplies and background needed to map a chosen greenspace in the Hawthorn Place Neighborhood. Participants will be given a map and chart, split into groups, and tasked with assigning ratings based on a set of recreation values to a different area of the neighborhood.

Whether you want to help promote the value of outdoor greenspaces, give back to the community, or spend some time outdoors with friends we would love to see you there!

Where?

We will meet in Jim Taylor Park (across from the Old Barn Community Centre), find us at the table with the flags!

Note: Volunteer hours will be rewarded

FAQs

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please email Elliot Bellis at ebellis33@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, the printed ticket is to get a head count for how many will be in attending. Bringing the printed ticket makes check-in easier but no worries if you have left it at home.
