Hoops & Spike
Basketball and Volleyball Development for children ages 7-9 years old
Hoops & Spikes is a 12-week, collaborative program between OBA and OVA (Ontario Volleyball Association) with the goal of developing physical literacy in children ages 6 to 9 years old (FUNdamental stage) by increasing physical activity participation opportunities. According to Sport 4 Life (S4L) principles, children in the FUNdamentals stage learn a variety of fundamental movement skills through game play in a fun, supportive, and challenging environment.
Additionally, Hoops & Spikes will teach children the fundamental skills needed for basketball and volleyball, including the ABC’s of athletics – Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. Children will complete and progress through levels, earning badges for each achievement. The program will conclude with a culminating event, allowing children to showcase their skills in a fun and festive environment.
