Description

Building on the success of last year’s event, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) will host a three-day Symposium on October 22-24, 2018 that will move beyond community energy planning. The Symposium will provide valuable information and opportunities for dialogue to help communities move towards implementing their plans and preparing for the future. In line with planning for the future, we are again inviting the next generation of community energy leaders (youth age 17-25) to participate in the Symposium. We are making a special effort to provide youth-focused programming through workshops on renewable energy and employment opportunities as well as presentations from the 2018 20/20 Catalysts Program participants.

This year’s Symposium will focus on transformation through knowledge that stays within communities, as well as building community energy resilience and revenue. The Symposium will enable First Nation communities to share ideas, experiences, learnings and expertise. Attendees will also be able to build personal and organizational capacity, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

Please note: Travel, meal and accommodation costs for two community members (adults aged 26+) and one youth (aged 17-25) from each First Nation community are eligible to be reimbursed. In the case of PTOs or Tribal Councils we would cover 2 staff members.

**ATTENDEES ARE TO BOOK FLIGHTS/HOTEL ROOMS/TRAVEL THEMSELVES AND WILL BE REIMBURSED AT A LATER DATE.**

A block of hotel rooms is being held at the Chelsea Hotel from October 21-24. In order to ensure availability, hotel room reservations are required by Monday, October 1 at 11:59 PM EST. See more booking details on the Reimbursement Form here.

The IESO has also negotiated a discount on Porter Airlines. Please see Section I. Travel Costs on the Reimbursement Form for booking details, including the discount code.

If you plan to attend, please ensure you register for the Symposium no later than Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST.
