Event description

Description

The first day of the workshop will begin with an overview of the proposed legislative changes related to two Bills: “An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act, and to make consequential amendments to the other Acts” (Bill C-69); and An Act to Amend the Fisheries Act and other Acts in consequence” (Bill C-68). These Bills aim to put in place better rules to protect our environment, fish and waterways, and rebuild public trust in how decisions about resource development are made.

The Government of Canada will then be seeking Indigenous perspectives on Indigenous Knowledge, as well as seeking feedback and guidance on Indigenous Knowledge integration in the proposed Bills and the Ocean Protection Plan (OPP) initiatives.

If you have questions related to the workshop, please send an email to tc.oppqc-ppoqc.tc@tc.gc.ca. More details will be shared regarding the workshop agenda as the planning progresses.

Please take a moment to register before January 15, 2019.

Transport Canada has held a block of rooms at the hôtel-musée des Premières Nations at a discounted rate of $159/night plus applicable taxes. When booking, please use reference code TRA050219 to claim the discount. This rate will be available until January 18th, 2019.

We hope you can make it!
