ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Scotland, David Leask draws inspiration from Celtic soul, folk/pop and roots rock, and is a ‘consummate professional and phenomenal musician and entertainer’ not to be missed.

With over 3,000 concerts in Canada, including annual appearances at the Fergus, ON Scottish Festival, which often touch and energize audiences to clap, dance, and leap to their feet for double-standing ovations, David Leask is also a compellingly original musician.

David has also been hailed as “the most consistent Canadian songwriting competition winner” by Songwriters Magazine, and is the winner of Mississauga’s 2021 “Songwriter of the Year” award. SOCAN Words and Music magazine describes David Leask as “earning immense respect from his peers”. David is a mentor for Humber College’s Graduate Certificate Program in Music Composition, is on the songwriting faculty for Guitar Workshop Plus, and was a songwriting mentor for eleven years with the School Alliance of Student Songwriters.

His last album, “Voyageur in Song” is a unique record inspired by six pieces and their amazing stories from the famous Six-String Nation Guitar (nicknamed “Voyageur” and made of 64 pieces of Canadian culture and history.) The Toronto Stardescribed “Voyageur in Song” as “possibly the most Canadian album on Canada’s most historic instrument.” The UK’s Rock ‘N Reel Magazine called it “That rare thing, a genuinely inspiring album.”

For those just discovering David Leask’s uplifting music, we’d recommend searching on YouTube for “Red Balloon”, and “When You Think No One Loves You”. The first single from David’s 8th album, “Feet In Your Shoes”, is a song about empathy, which many have been moved to share with friends needing encouragement. The entire album, One Ray of Light at a Time, is filled with songs bringing hope to people in difficult times.
