Event description

Description

Labyrinth of Lies (Im Labyrinth des Schweigens) (2014, 124 minutes)

Set in Germany, 15 years after the end of the Second World War, a young public prosecutor encounters a conspiracy of silence as he attempts to uncover the truth about Auschwitz, and the extent to which ordinary German’s were involved. Only the Prosecutor General, Fritz Bauer, encourages the young prosecutor in his quest to bring Nazi war criminals to justice. This award-winning film directed by Giulio Ricciarelli is riveting in its portrayal of the complexities of life in postwar West Germany, a pivotal period in coming to terms with the National Socialist past.

Dr. Carolyn Kay, professor of modern German History at Trent University, will contextualise the film and answer questions.
