About this event

Last year the pandemic threw us into a profound transition at SFU and around the world. We experienced new demands on us as leaders and as human beings. We were suddenly leading virtual teams, navigating our day-to-day relationships and working with unfamiliar technology in the midst of great uncertainty.

Now, with the possibility of returning to physical work spaces, or a hybrid of virtual and onsite environments, we are facing more novel challenges, more unknowns and more demands on our leadership in this shifting work environment.

Leading in times of transition is a 2.5 hour session designed to provide you with some tools, insights and frameworks for helping you to feel more grounded, oriented and confident in leading your team (and yourself!) through the coming months. You’ll have a chance to connect with peers on some of the challenges you are facing, reflect on some of the learnings and skills you’ve acquired this past year, and prepare for the months to come. In this seminar we explore the following topics:

  • Re-engaging your team: applying a developmental model of team dynamics
  • Practicing resilience: understanding the way our brains are wired to perceive threats and how to mitigate the threat response
  • Understanding the psychology of change and transition

All levels of leaders are welcome.
