Innovation for All - Getting past the buzzwords

Innovation is the latest buzzword that is hard to avoid. Nations are pinning their futures on it, billions of dollars are flowing into it, startups rely on it, and most companies just fear it. But innovation isn’t only the domain of hoodie-wearing hackers and vote-searching politicians. It is a mindset and a process that is available to all small and medium businesses. This talk will demystify innovation and introduce concepts that you can use in your business today.

The Speaker: Ray DePaul

Ray DePaul is the inaugural Director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Mount Royal University. The Institute’s mission is to graduate the most entrepreneurial minds in Canada. Ray has launched many innovative products in his 30-year career. He has been a successful entrepreneur, selling his previous company to Intel, and was also a key member of the team that brought the iconic BlackBerry to the world. He is currently the Innovator in Residence at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, on the board of Innovate Calgary as well as several private sector advisory boards, and is proud to be a mentor and advisor to many young entrepreneurs. Ray holds a Bachelors of Mathematics in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and a Masters of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he was the recipient of the Alumnus Award for Outstanding Innovation and Achievement.

Ray is currently on the Board of Directors at Innovate Calgary and is supporting the Bow Valley Chamber of Commerce with the set up of Innovate Canmore.
