Join Adventure Report for an evening on the water at Mooney’s Bay and learn to paddle a canoe!
This event is ideal for folks (18+) who are interested in trying out canoeing for the first time, or for folks who still consider themselves total beginners and want a little more practice.
All the necessary gear will be provided on-site (canoe, PFD, paddle, bailing bucket, etc.).
Our instructors Jenny Kirton and Eva Moons are outdoor education teachers with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
They will help us learn:
-what safety items are required on the water (and why)
-how to hold a paddle
-how to get into a canoe safely
-different paddle strokes
You will be sharing a canoe with another participant while on the water and will have time to test out your technique together following instruction.
To take part in this event, you must be comfortable with the idea that you could end up in the water!
What you should bring:
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Hat
Bug Spray
Water Bottle
Shoes you’re okay with getting wet.
Clothing you’re okay with getting wet.
... We can’t wait to see you on the water! Look for the canoes when you get to Mooney's Bay!
