------------------------------

You are a tinkerer and an explorer. Imagining cool stuff is your middle name. And you are between 8 and 11 years old ...then keep reading, this is for you!

What Are We Doing?

Metrolinx - the company that helps us get around the Greater Toronto area - has challenged us to go on an adventure and explore how we might move around the city in the future! We are asking for your help to get creative, work with a small group of other awesome kids and together come up with some inspiring ideas to help Metrolinx with this challenge!

Join our Little Innovator workshop on Sunday September 17th! Together we will create interesting ways we could move around the city! What do you think would be new and exciting ways to get from your house to the grocery store, the mall or even your best friend’s house for example? You will get to work with some fun tools to make crazy drawings, create exciting stories, or even create a one of a kind sculpture!

And because explorers and tinkerers do get hungry, there will be treats to boost our brainpower!

For your parents...

The ambition to solve our global challenges lies at the center of a bright, successful future. Solving these challenges requires fresh perspectives and fearless imaginations - a difficult pursuit for us adults, as we tend to be bound by complexity and conventions.

Our kids on the other hand, have boundless creativity and are growing up in a confusing world where tackling global issues is rapidly becoming a reality. Imagine if we could tap into and strengthen our kids' creative problem solving skills to last a lifetime?

Join our Little Innovators movement, as we aim to solve our growing global challenges while building far reaching skills for young minds!

How we go about it:

The 2h workshop is broken up in 4x 30min. During the first 30min, we set up the challenge Metrolinx has provided and let the kids think about it as freely as possible. During each next block of 30min, we focus on a different aspect of their idea. What shape will it have, who would use it, … ? We use this adapted design thinking approach to help the kids think through their ideas, iterate on it and deepen it from different perspectives.

To help them bring their idea to life, we provide different craft materials and let them choose if they want to draw it out, paint it or even make a little model of it. Whatever helps them to think it through and tell their story.

During the 2h workshop, we also provide the opportunity to explain their idea in front of a camera. These little mini clips (1-2min) will be handed over to Metrolinx as inspiration starters for their innovation projects. They will also live on the Little Innovators Instagram account and Facebook page. There, they will serve as inspiration for people to think about innovation differently and help change our perspective on the future. They will support us in building a global community of little changemakers. Before the start of the workshop, we ask that you sign a consent form if you agree to recording this mini interview.
