Description

Through over fifteen years in philanthropy, with disbursements approaching $40 million, Mark Petersen has learned what it takes to give well. His process requires using both head and heart - a philanthropist is more an ATM machine. His strategic approach empowers charities and spurs them on toward excellence. This kind of hands-on engagement makes giving uniquely satisfying.

His new book, Love Giving Well: Philanthropy as Pilgrimage, published by Wipf + Stock, has just been released. This book speaks to all who long to give well and achieve impact through their giving. Givers find they become pilgrims on a transformational journey when they surrender, allowing the giving to change themselves as well as the world.

Here’s what others are saying about Love Giving Well:

  • Lorna Dueck: “…it’s coaching, plain and simple…”
  • Rod Wilson: “…incisive clarity…”
  • Karen Hamilton: “…an authentic path…”
  • Gary Nelson: “…a must-read…”
  • John Pellowe: “…compelling…”
  • Fred Smith: “…an artisan and craftsman of philanthropy…”
  • Fr. Raymond DeSouza: “…practical advice borne of experience…”

You are invited to a book launch where Mark will offer a short reading from his book and explain his purpose in writing it.

Registration for the book launches is free but mandatory as venues have limited capacity.

There will be an opportunity to purchase the book at a 50% discount off Amazon pricing with presentation of your Eventbrite ticket. The author will also be available for book signings.

VENUE: We will meet in the Presidents' West Meeting Room of the Vancouver Club.

DRESS CODE: The Vancouver Club requests no jeans.

This event is cosponsored with the support of the Stewardship Foundation and City in Focus.
