We are a group of social work students at UFV creating a community program for new parents or caregivers.
Online
Our goal is to teach infant massage while creating space for new parents or caregivers to develop supportive relationships that they can continue after the group ends. The massage instruction will be provided by a certified instructor.
When looking at the community we saw new parents needing more supportive relationships (increased by COVID). Young mothers are particularly vulnerable to post-partum depression and the introduction of new infants can create a lot of change. Through our group we will be touching on bonding with your baby, identifying post-partum depression, and mental health tips and tricks. This material will be spilt up into 3 sessions; legs & tummy, arms & face, back & gentle movements.
This group will be online on Zoom, recurring in 3 sessions: Monday March 1, 8, and 15 from 6:00-7:00pm. Each session builds off the previous one, so it is preferred that you are able to attend all 3. Once you sign up, please request to join the Facebook group to get to know the other parents before our first session! Here's the link: Monday are for Massage Facebook Group
