Mount Allison's Summer Academy of Music combines private instruction, public performance, elective courses, and social activities for a week of inspiring music-making for pianists, singers, and instrumentalists, ages 14 to 19.
Participants will receive private lessons and master classes with Mount Allison faculty members, focused on Western Art Music repertoire and the development of technical and interpretive skills, as well as coachings in chamber music and art song. Practice time will be available each day, making use of the excellent pianos and practice facilities in the Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory of Music on the beautiful Mount Allison campus. A variety of elective courses will be held throughout the week including Musicianship, New Music Creation, Composition, Aural Skills, and Music Theory. Evening recreational activities will include outdoor events, crafts, movies, and a faculty recital. The week will conclude with a final student concert, open to the public.
