School Bus Orientation

The Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District, First Student Canada, and Southland Transportation Ltd. offer a school bus orientation program for first-time riders and their parents, called My 1st Ride. We offer this free of charge each spring.

Attendants must register in advance. Spots are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents do not need to register themselves to attend. Register only your child(ren).

The program consists of a 20-minute presentation followed by a short ride on a school bus. After the bus ride, students are invited back to the school gym to pick up treats from Calgary Co-op. Each new rider will also be given a certificate of completion.

Staff from both School Boards, as well as Southland Transportation and First Student bus companies are available for information and/or questions.

The sessions run every half hour between 9am and 3pm. Each session will take approximately 1 hour.

Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes prior to your session to be checked in.
