About this event

Experience Nature and Forest Bathing from your own home, garden, a park or your balcony - anywhere in the World!

The primary goal of Forest Bathing is to support the wellness and health of participants through guided immersive experiences in forests and other natural settings. A Nature and Forest Therapy Guide facilitates safe gentle walks, providing instructions—referred to as “invitations”—for sensory opening activities along the way. These walks follow a standard sequence. They begin with guided sensory attention and embodiment activities that establish contact with the present moment and place. Next come a series of connective invitations, often improvised in the moment and adapted to the needs of participants.

Using Zoom you can dial in from your phone or computer for free over video or audio. Through a series of 'invitations', I will guide you slowly, intentionally, and mindfully move through your indoor or outdoor landscape in ways that cultivate presence, opening all the senses. Actively connect with the land and connect with others, wherever you are, over 1.5 hours.

You simply follow the gentle invitations as you listen to my voice from your phone or computer, while I am in Nature on the West Coast of B.C., Canada.

You're welcome to join from wherever you are. These online gatherings invite you to participate from a safe and familiar outdoor space near you, such as your garden, a local park or a nearby greenspace. If you're unable to leave your home, you can participate by looking at nature through your window, sitting next to an indoor plant and gathering items that represent nature to you, such as rocks, seashells, favorite images of nature, herbs, fruits and vegetables, wooden objects, etc.

We will share our experiences with the group after each invitation. Silence is also a means of sharing and no outcomes are expected

Frequently asked questions

Do I need special Equipment?

No - comfortable clothing and dress in layers if you're outdoors. A water bottle or glass of water (if indoors).

I cannot go outdoors. Is it possible to take part if I am indoors?

Absolutely! The 'invitations' offered can be done indoors and out. We have natural elements all around us, and we use our senses to connect to nature through the invitations offered. Even if you are confined to a bed, that's ok.

Can I use Zoom on my phone?

Yes. And you can turn off your video if you do want to be seen by me or other participants.

Why do I need a guide to Forest Bathe?

A guide will: - listen attentively, non-judgmentally, and confidentially. - slow you down. Most people move too fast through the forest to experience the kind of health benefits that forest bathing creates. - offer invitations, on unique, fun and healing ways to interact with the forest.

Nature and Forest Therapy, otherwise known as 'Forest Bathing' refers to the practice of spending time in Nature for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness.

This is not just a walk. Through a series of 'invitations', I will guide you slowly and intentionally over 2.5 hours to awaken your senses and deepen your connection with yourself, with nature, and with others. You'll be invited to tune into your senses, slow down, and to give your attention to the more-than-human world around you. We will cover no more than 1 km, and the ground is level.

Nature and Forest Therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which loosely translates to "forest bathing." Studies have demonstrate a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition. Nature and Forest therapy guides build on those benefits and look beyond, to what happens when people remember that we are a part of nature, not separate from it, and are related to all other beings in fundamental ways.
