The course is designed for individuals wishing to apply basic land navigation skills by using a map, compass or GPS. Two Hike Ontario instructors will provide the course content.
The course will use a variety of topograghic maps. The theory portions will be held indoors. For the most part, the course will be held outdoors.
Participants need to bring a base plate orienteering compass, paper, pen, ruler, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, lunch, water, and a GPS (if available). The instructors will be using a Garmin GPS unit. Props, handouts and a brief GPS PowerPoint presentation will be used.
The deadline for registration will be 7 days prior to the start of the course.

What can/can't I bring to the event?
► Snacks, lunch and beverages for the day. Layered clothing appropriate for the anticipated weather and sturdy footwear. We will be outside throughout the day.Bring a backpack packed with the supplies you think you would require if you were leading a group hike.
