NRP Advanced Provider Course

Covers Lessons 1-11 of the 8th Edition of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Includes: principles of resuscitation, initial steps of resuscitation, use of resuscitation devices, chest compressions, endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask airway insertion, umbilical venous cannulation, medication administration, special considerations, and resuscitation of preterm infants and ethics and care at the end of life.

Successful completion of the Advanced Integrated Skills Assessment (an in-person practical test) is required, according to the participant's legal scope of practice and practice setting.

SiROC recommends the NRP Advanced Provider Course (lessons 1-11, 8th edition) for healthcare providers who practice in care settings with an inborn unit/area (e.g. Labour and Delivery). If you are unsure, please consult with your educator or manager before booking the course. Please note, that no refunds or transfers will be granted for booking the wrong course.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program is a three-step process including:

(1) Self-directed learning using the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation - 8th Edition

(2) Successful completion of an online knowledge exam

(3) Attendance at a day-long classroom session for hands-on skill development, practice, and testing. Participants learn and work together as members of a neonatal resuscitation team. All participants must learn and practice in the various roles of a neonatal resuscitation team.

The course tuition does not include the textbook or the online exam fee.

Prerequisites:

1a) MD, RM, RN, RPN, RRT, GRT, PCP, ACP, CCP, NP, PA, IMG or

1b) Student - Midwifery (Level 2/3/4) or Student-Medicine/Nursing/Respiratory/Paramedic (currently enrolled in the final year of studies)

2) Completing the 8th Edition online examination before attending the classroom session. A paper copy of your NRP Online Exam Certificate of Completion must be submitted during course check-in. After completing the online exam, you must finish the online Provider Exam Evaluation before the system releases the Exam Certificate of Completion.

3) Adequately rested (not on service in the 8 hours preceding the course) and physically well enough to be able to participate in the course fully.

NRP Course Preparation and Online Examination Details

It is necessary to complete self-directed learning using the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation - 8th Edition in preparation for the required online exam.

Completing the 8th Edition NRP online examination is required before you arrive for your classroom session. You must submit a paper copy of your NRP Online Exam Certificate of Completion during course check-in.

E-simulations are available as an optional part of the exam. Many previous NRP course participants have found the e-simulations helpful in preparing for their classroom session. However, they are not mandatory.

If you choose to do the e-simulations, please remember that you must complete them, along with the multiple-choice exam questions and Provider Exam Evaluation, before the system will issue your Online Exam certificate of completion.

The course tuition does not include the textbook or the online exam fee.
