Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization’s (OHTO) 6th annual tourism conference & AGM, also known as OH!Tourism Summit, will be held in beautiful Lanark County at Code’s Mill on the Park and Best Western Plus Perth on October 24-25, 2016.
Each year, industry leaders and community partners across Ontario’s Highlands come together at OH!Tourism Summit to share best practices, network, and strengthen our tourism industry. This year’s event is being hosted in partnership with Lanark County, Valley Heartland Community Futures Development Corporation, and Lanark County Tourism Association.
With this year’s theme of "Small Towns – Big Stories: Using Content to Generate Visitor Engagement in Ontario’s Highlands,” we’ll be delving into how we can uncover the storyteller inside all of us to cut through advertising clutter, engage audiences, and inspire visitation. Through captivating keynote speakers and thought provoking workshops, delegates will discover how to navigate the path to develop content, share their stories, and engage visitors as we embark on a collective journey to invite people to Come Wander Ontario’s Highlands.
The conference will begin with the AGM on the morning of October 24, followed by an inspiring keynote session by High Performance Specialist, Yvonne Camus, who will share her experience of achieving success in the most unlikely of environments. Next, delegates are invited to explore the Come Wander brand through an interactive session led by Chris Hughes of BC Hughes. Chris will help to uncover the common thread inside all of us and help us understand not only what Come Wander means for the visitor, but how you and your organization can be the main characters in the story.
To cap off the first day, our partners – Lanark County Tourism, Valley Heartland CFDC, and Lanark County Tourism Association – are thrilled to share the rural roots lifestyle of Lanark County for an evening that promises much more than just maple. You’ll be welcomed to Lanark County with a treat for all senses and a celebration of tourism with your peers from across Ontario’s Highlands.
The second day of the conference will kick off with a keynote session delivered by Jeffrey Davis, a thought leader in the field of creativity and productivity, author of a pioneering book on writing and creative process, and veteran strategist. Jeffrey will share what branding is and how strategic branding not only attracts more customers but potentially creates a community of raving fans.
Delegates will then have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops led by industry leaders such as Shopify and Search Engine People, exploring topics such as generating engaging content, capturing and sharing images more effectively through your smartphone, and improving your digital marketing in 20 minutes a day.
