Explore the stately homes of two of Port Hope's premier streets. This tour features an eclectic mix of cottages and townhomes, the homes of sea captains and leaders of industry, the mansions of wealthy American summer residents and (at least one) European noble. Come hear their stories and appreciate the wonderful architectural heritage they have left for us.


This 90-minute (approximate) tour will take you on an easy 1km stroll past some of the most fascinating landmarks of Dorset and Augusta Streets in Port Hope, Ontario. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you all about the buildings you go by and the people who built, lived, or worked in, and restored them.

Will the tour be cancelled in the event of bad weather?

Tours run rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of a severe thunderstorm. Please dress appropriately. If the tour is cancelled you will be issued a refund or you may choose to reschedule for a different date.

What should I bring?

Bring a copy of your eventbrite booking confirmation (printed or on your phone). Your guide will have a list of guests to confirm. Wear comfortable shoes and consider bringing a hat or umbrella.

Where does the tour meet?

The Augusta and Dorset Street tour meets at the corner of Augusta and Queen street in front of the Town Hall. There is normally ample street parking in the area and free parking is available behind the bandshell.
