Event description

Description

Peer-Led Learning is a series of small-group teaching workshops whose participants meet weekly to discuss and debate a chosen subject. The theme for LLM’s Winter 2018 session is the Canadian legal system, featuring discussions on the Rule of Law and the Canadian justice system, the challenge of the jury model, indigenous people and the law, the basics of Shariah Law, and the wrongfully convicted. Below are suggested presenters and topics. We can accomodate any changes as long as the presenter notifies everyone in advance. We will discuss presenter/topic after the first meeting on February 7th.

Week 1 February 7, Criminal Law - Paul Taylor

Week 2 February 14, Rule of Law - David Rothwell

Week 3 February 21, The Challenge with the Jury System - Barry Everatt

Week 4 February 28, Shariah and Islamic Law and possible indigenous law - Naz Husain

Week 5 March 7, Second topic - David Rothwell

Week 6 March 14, Wrongfully Convicted - Sandy Leppan
