About this event

  • 3 hours 40 minutes

As a festival of harmony, this peace calling and acoustic gathering for humanity will resound with the drumming, chanting, and dancing origins that forged our reggae music, along with influences from our village residency in Jamaica. A respectful member of the local Vancouver drumming community, notorious for tribal dance, and resounding chants, it is our honour to assemble the very best for the first ever Rastafari Drum Festival!

Retreat: Lovenjoy.Tv/Rastafari.html

As an indigenous people from the commonwealth of Jamaica, our big brothers in the commonwealth of Canada are invited to drum their sounds of humanity as well. On Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Our very own communal sanctuary is rooted in 'The Philosophy' speech by Rastafari to the United Nations popularized by the prophet Bob Marley in his song 'War.' RAW will be our gift bags for any donations, as this brand will have a strong presence; as an anagram reminder. Though no merchandise will be for sale, donations are welcome for the exchange of limited edition pieces. We’ll also have the Paraphernalia Games, where adult attendees can pitch in for the grand prizes, while we further explore the sacramental relationship Rastafari have with the entirety of the plant world.

Revered by some, ostracized by many in their own country, Rastafari were beaten and killed by their own people, Jamaicans. Our communities burned, destroyed, lives shattered. We have so since risen above these atrocities to share glorious blessings.

This is a Festival and cultural expo created to propagate and perpetuate a conscience for humanity. This is our calling for harmony in a space of solidarity. Love yourself! More.

P.s. Festival performance is modelled as a flash mob to announce the Rastafari community, share our culture and educate others about our spirituality. Though the itinerary is set for two hours, the drumming will continue until sunset!
