Join us as we explore the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Using KAIROS Canada’s most popular teaching tool, the BLANKET EXERCISE, the evening’s activities will be led by trained facilitators, Sister Kathleen Lichti and Indigenous Mother Tina Stevens, who will take participants on an experiential journey back to the Canada’s past some 500 years.

The activity will be immediately followed by a Sharing/Talking Circle.

NECC is grateful to:

  • Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre & Glen Cairn Community Centre for financially supporting this session;

  • Crouch Branch Library for sponsoring the meeting space.

Trigger warning: The Blanket Exercise touches on many painful experiences – disease outbreaks, residential schools, 60s scoop, foster care, missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and loss of status. Strong emotions can surface. There will be health support on site.

Please Note:

  2. Bring socks as you will be walking around on blankets.

  3. If you have mobility/pain issues which limit your standing or walking, please feel free to inform the facilitators, and you can go through the exercise seated.
