About this event

Welcome to Rise and Shine: Creative Meditations

These short sessions (40 min) are intended as a place to pause, dip in our toes, wiggle them around a bit and rise rooted a bit deeper to our unique creative voice.

You can expect a short meditation/prompt and continue with free expression set to music. What you make really doesn't matter...just that you do. Taking the time to be creative helps us tap into our inner world, soothe the jagged edges and infuse us with inspiration for the rest of the week. Sounds good right?

This will not be a chatty workshop. We will not be processing or sharing our creations(although you will have an opportunity to hold it up at end of session if you wish). Instead we will be holding space, listening, breathing and simply creating for creations sake.

These session are perfect for anyone wanting to sink a bit deeper into process over product and enjoys sitting in creative community to remind us that showing up for ourselves takes practice.

So grab your favourite mug beverage, and let's rise and shine together!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be artistic to attend?

Absolutely not! We have zero attachment to end product but focus on the sensation of creating. You could scribble, finger paint or simply make repetative lines on the page. The point is to allow yourself to create.

What art supplies should I bring?

Whatever you feel called to is perfect. Paper, pencil crayons, markers etc... Notice what feels good in your hand or what you are curious to explore. Start there :)

Organized by

Thank you for dropping by Westcoast Expressive's Workshops!

My name is Lora McNeil: Registered Canadian Art Therapist who runs Westcoast Expressive in the unceded Tla-o-qui-aht Territory of Tofino, BC.

My approach to art therapy is grounded in the creative process. We will always return to the art as a tool of discovery and exploration. Art Therapy allows you to use creativity to better understand and express yourself in unique ways, finding solutions as yet unimagined and discovering layers of meaning as yet unexplored. It is a truly powerful experience that I would love to share with you.
