About event:

SCOLA members are representatives of modern language departments at BC post-secondary institutions who meet on an annual basis, in a general assembly as well as specialized sections (i.e. Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and so on), to discuss matters related to modern language education.

The goals of SCOLA set out by the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) include:

  1. facilitating the transfer of students from one educational institution to another;
  2. fostering understanding of course objectives in the discipline;
  3. exchanging information about entry requirements, measures of achievement, course numbering systems, textbooks, supporting facilities, and program developments in the field;
  4. maintaining liaison with appropriate external certification bodies;
  5. providing a forum for discussion of instructional practices and for the exchange of learning materials, and of any changes contemplated in courses and programs that will affect transfer relationships;
  6. identifying and forwarding transfer problems which require the attention of BCCAT.
