Native plants can be hard to find, but you can become your own source of native plants by joining Seed Sitters – a simple outdoor method of growing from seed in your backyard or on your balcony.

Now is the perfect time to get started. Let us show you how!

David Suzuki Foundation is hosting a FREE Seed Sitters event on January 28th to bring together people and groups in Toronto that support and engage in winter sowing of native plants. This is your chance to discuss the simple method with experienced Seed Sitters, connect with growers and gardeners in your neighbourhood, and gather educational material.

You can also bring native seed to share, but please label each single-species packet with the common and Latin names, plus collection location and date.

Coffee, tea and cookies will be served. Bring your own mug and water bottle to help reduce waste.

Participating people and groups include Butterflyway Rangers, Project Swallowtail, Underhill Seedsitters, and North American Native Plant Society.
