*Please note: This is workshop is only open to people working in licensed child care centre's, family day care homes and nursery schools.

Perhaps you know a child who has difficulty paying attention, making friends, or refuses to go to the store, the pool or a birthday party because it is too loud, too bright, too much. Perhaps you know a child who likes only certain foods, or clothes. Or perhaps you know a child who is in constant motion or afraid to try new movement experiences. Many of these day to day responses can be explained from a sensory processing perspective. When sensory processing challenges exist it affects our ability to learn, play and cope with family, friends and school.

This workshop will introduce participants to sensory processing theory, provide insight into the “why” of behaviour and enhance the child-caregiver relationship, provide strategies and solutions to assist children interpret and use information in their world and learn to become sensory detectives and advocates for children.

Facilitator:

Susan Hales O.T. Reg. (MB), is an Instructor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, school of Medical Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba.
