March 2019 marked the inaugural edition of She Be Lady and it was a big success. We had over 400 people in attendance for the live music concert at the historical Concert Hall, for an inspiring and empowering performance featuring R&B singer and Toronto native Ndai, Hip hop jazz lyricist Akua Naru and Singer songwriter Falana, all backed by a world class 8 piece band and hosted by Jamaican-Nigerian-Canadian actor Olunike Adeliyi. An additional 100 people attended the community roundtable the following day.

For She Be Lady 2020, we are expecting over 1200 people to join us for the duration of the 3 day event that includes the TD-sponsored concert , the community roundtable and the wellness workshop. Stay tuned as we announce the details over the next few weeks!

Lila Iké:

At the forefront of the new wave of amazing women artists kicking down doors for Jamaican music, Lila Iké is one to watch this year. Born and raised in the hills of Manchester, JA, Lila’s wide ranging influences of pop, soul to lover’s rock are etched into her music. Last year’s break out single “Where I’m Coming From” catapulted her to the upper echelon of the reggae scene touring the world solo and along side her mentor Protoje. With a road tested live show and a slew of big songs slated to drop, 2020 is Lila’s year and we are here for it! Come and see another

Bucie:

We are excited to announce our first headliner for the She Be Lady concert, the queen of Afro-House, South Africa’s own Bucie! Already considered an Afro-house anthem “Superman”, her 2007 collaboration with the legendary DJ Black Coffee recently saw a resurgence after it was covered by Drake and Jorja Smith as “Get it Together”. Bucie soon went on to carve her own lane with solo hits like “Get Over It” and “Turn me On”. More than 10 years later, Bucie is considered one of the best female vocalists in Africa, lending her sultry vocals and songwriting to local SA musicians like Heavy K and Kwesta as well as fellow international stars like Wizkid and D’Banj. Her 2018 album “Rebirth” is a testament to her artist growth and musical direction. It’s been a while since Bucie has been in Canada and it is a real honor to have blessing the She Be Lady stage. The queen is coming! Stay tuned for more concert line-up announcements.
