Presenter:

Dr. Penny Corkum

Dr. Corkum is a child psychologist and professor in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. She has worked clinically with children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and her current research focuses on developing and evaluating eHealth interventions for child sleep problems (Better Nights, Better Days), as well as for teachers working with children with NDDs (Teacher Help).

Dr. Corkum will be joined by two of her team members to help present the following information:

Presentation Outline:

Dr. Corkum and her team will provide a general overview of the process of sleep and it's impact on children's daytime functioning. A review on what is known about sleep in children with ASD will then be given.

The team will then share information about what the evidence is for various interventions to help sleep issues in children with ASD. There will then be a time for questions and answers and resources will be shared.


Audience:

Families who have a child with ASD and professionals who work with children who have some sleep questions.
