Sound Healing with Alia O' Brien: HUMANA/MUNDANA/INSTRUMENTALIS

Via breath filtered through the flute (an instrument often compared to the human voice), we will flow through outer and inner sound worlds, from musical reflections of the current planetary configurations to sound spaces that highlight, and draw our attention to, our own bodily sounds.

Gesturing towards ideas from the two lectures that preceded it, this sound bath will trouble bifurcated notions of “externality” and “internality,” “listening” and “hearing,” and “noise” and “harmony,” with the hope of creating an atmosphere of fluidity and possibility.

The flute will serve as a guide for breath work, for those who wish to participate in this way.

Alia O' Brien has studied the ney/nay in Ramallah, Boston, and Toronto, has recorded and toured internationally with her band Blood Ceremony, and has scored several plays and films.

The Flow is a studio for restorative strength.
