About this event

The Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association Outdoor Women’s Program was developed to provide enriching educational experiences and engaging activities, all within a supportive and inclusive environment. Our goal is to empower women by offering a diverse range of activities, fostering a deep connection with nature, while cultivating skills that contribute to conservation efforts and the enjoyment of outdoor pursuits.

This program will consist of a series of sessions through the spring, summer, and fall of 2024, each focused on providing a direct hands-on experience with a different aspect of Canada's rich cultural heritage of hunting, angling, trapping and the shooting sports.

Bushcraft & Wilderness Living Skills will be led by Colleen and Dale Kiselyk, owners and instructors of Nature Alive Adventures, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Colleen and Dale will introduce session participants to bushcraft, the art of firecraft, animal tracking, knife skills and carving, ropes and knots, plant uses, and campfire cooking systems.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own survival kits, cool gadgets, and favourite survival kit items to the day. SPFGA will lend participants knives and ferro rods. Nature Alive Adventures will supply all the other materials, so participants only need to bring their interest in bushcraft and wilderness living skills.

Minimum Attendance Age

If a youth is attending without adult accompaniment, they must be 15 years of age or older. If the youth is accompanied by an adult however, there really isn’t a minimum age. As long as they are old enough to make it through this day of activities and do so safely, they are absolutely welcome to attend.
