THE LISTENING ROOM ATMOSPHERE

What you will experience here is a listening room. And while the performers love the audience to applaud and laugh, too much conversation during the show distracts other listeners and is disrespectful to the songwriters who form the backbone of this very special evening. We encourage talking before the show, between sets, during intermission, and after the show but ask that during the performances, audience members keep their voices low and talking to a minimum.

ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR ARTISTS

As a way of bringing some of the Nashville Honkytonk Tradition to this evening audience members may show their appreciation to the artists by making a donation in the artist tip jar located at the front of the stage at any time they wish throughout the evening.

MEET THE ARTISTS

JOHN WORT HANNAM

https://www.johnworthannam.com/

“John Wort Hannam looks like Billy Bob Thorton, hails from rural Alberta, and does roots music like no one’s business.” SPILL MAGAZINE

Hannam’s narrative, achingly resilient writing approach hooks the listener immediately - the real deal.

More please. SHINDIG MAGAZINE -UK

In 2001, John Wort Hannam quit his teaching job and spent 10 months depleting his savings while sat at his kitchen table, writing his first ten songs. Those songs would become his first recording Pocket Full Of Holes, released in 2003. Twenty years later, the Alberta musician is recognized as one of the best folk roots songwriters in Alberta, has released eight full-length recordings and has a few feathers in that lucky hat. Feathers that include a JUNO nomination, Canadian Folk Music Awards for Best Album of the Year, and Solo Artist of the Year, A CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, a Kerrville Texas New Folk win, and numerous Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and Western Canadian Music Award nominations.

SCOTT DUNCAN

Raised in Calgary, Alberta, Scott Duncan is an energetic, passionate performer. He enjoys playing all styles, including Celtic, bluegrass, folk, classical, swing, country, Cajun, French-Canadian & other regional folk styles, and singer/songwriter accompaniment, both live and in the studio.

In addition to the live shows, Scott can be heard on over 30 recordings of many of the artists with whom he plays, and some he doesn't yet, including Ian Tyson's new album Carnero Vaquero.

With many new, original tunes based on traditional styles, Scott continues to showcase an instrument whose voice and versatility pleases even the most seasoned fan. His first popular original tune Falling Down enjoyed radio play from a recording with Fair Haven, and was subsequently recorded by other groups. Falling Down and other tunes are regularly played by a few different groups and individuals, and are now available in Scott's tunebook.

Artist line-up subject to change without notice. In the case of event cancellation ticketholders will receive a full refund.
