About this event

TALK IT OUT - Queer Men of the Maritimes Edition

Welcome to our virtual gathering for QUEER people who identify and/or present as MEN.

This group is dedicated to hosting bi-weekly online sessions lasting 2.5 hours, specifically tailored for QUEER people (gay, bi, trans, non-binary, male identifying and/or presenting men), of all ages (19++).

These sessions aim to foster genuine and open emotional connections among participants, serving as a powerful countermeasure to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and a lack of community. Our objective is to create a positive, joyful, and safe environment where attendees can freely explore various topics, offer mutual support, build friendships, and tackle life's challenges together.

We warmly welcome folks who may still be in the process of fully embracing their identity. If there are any concerns or reservations about joining the group, we encourage individuals to discuss them with the host prior to attending. Our utmost priority is ensuring everyone feels comfortable, supported and respected.

Frequently asked questions

How often is the virtual event happening?

Our event occurs every other Tuesday from 7 pm to 9:30 pm Atlantic Time (NS, NB, PEI) and 7:30 pm to 10 pm Newfoundland Time.

Are participants expected to attend all the bi-weekly events?

No. While you are certainly encouraged to attend regularly for consistency and greater chance of establishing deep friendships and connection, you are welcome to attend events at a frequency that works best for you.

Do I have to stay for the full 2.5 hours?

Our aim: a committed group for full-session participation, ensuring all voices are heard. While we prefer full attendance, life happens. If you must arrive late or leave early, minimize disruptions.

Why are events online versus in person?

Our aim is to create an inclusive space for Atlantic Provinces residents, inclusive of those in rural areas. By hosting online sessions, multiple barriers are reduced & more people can join. As our group stabilizes, we can consider in-person social meetups with proper planning amongst the group.

Why is there a ticket fee?

This helps registrant accountability, avoiding no shows. The fee also helps with online service costs and supports the dedicated host's time and energy. **A portion of the fees are set aside for bi-annual donations to maritime based queer charities/organizations**

Do I have to have my camera on?

Ideally yes. We ask that all participants have their camera on so everyone can make an informed choice about participating, knowing who other group members are. If you are uncomfortable having your camera on for any reason, please reach out to the host ahead of time for discussion.

What language is the event in?

English
