Tasty Tomatoes - July 12

Classes at the 1909 Culinary Academy combine a hands-on cooking experience with delicious tasting experiences.

Local tomatoes are always in season.

In this culinary event we'll explore the bright, tangy flavour of tomatoes as we discover what flavours compliment best.

What's on the menu? We'll start with a classic Tomato Burrata Salad, which is loaded with flavour yet so simple to make. Next is a classic french dish of Ratatouille featuring eggplant, zucchini squash, and tomatoes along with a variety of herbs. Tom Yum Soup is a light Thai soup full of refreshing flavours, including cherry tomatoes. It's easy to make and while it's Vegan, it's relished by meat-lovers too. An old favourite of Roasted Tomato and Ricotta on Crostini rounds out our menu.

Bring along your reusable take out containers because there are often left overs after a class at the 1909.
