Description

A 3-day intensive class held over two weekends that will cover TEA 105 & 106.

DATES:
Saturday, November 9 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Sunday, November 10 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Saturday, November 16 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)

*students will have 1 hour for lunch

**Please note that we require a minimum class size of 8 students to run this course. Due to this, we will be confirming with students two weeks before the start date if the class will go ahead.

TEA 107: Menu Design, Food Pairing & Cooking With Tea
Explore the various nuances of using tea as an ingredient – cooking, baking, cocktails etc. In this course, you will understand the principals behind using tea beyond its traditional uses as well as how to pair tea with food and create the perfect tea menu.

TEA 108: The Business of Tea
Learn about the various layers that make up the tea industry – commodity trader and auctions, packers and retailers. Who are they, what do they do and what are the challenges faced in each sector.

**Students must have completed TEA 101: Introduction to Tea to register in these courses



Instructor: Shabnam Weber

Shabnam Weber is President of the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada. Prior to her current position, she spent eighteen years in the tea business as an entrepreneur. As owner of a specialty tea company, a tea school and a Director on the Board of the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada, she has a unique perspective on multiple angles of the tea business. She is the author of THAC’s well known and recognized Tea Sommelier® program and a big driver in both consumer and industry education. Shabnam values the diversity offered by all parts of the tea industry, both in Canada and beyond and focuses always on the bigger picture. Shabnam is a graduate of the University of Toronto with an Honours degree in Political Science and she also holds a post-graduate diploma in Psychology.
