Where is the Big Bash?

What happens if it rains?

The show will go on, rain or shine! Bring clothing and accessories suitable for the weather.

Is this a 19+ event?

Yes, this is a 19+ event and there will be a bar on site during the show. You must have your ID on you at all times and be ready to show it when entering and when purchasing alcohol.

What's the seating like?

There is a limited amount of bench seating available, but you might want to bring your own chair or blanket. There will be plenty of space to set up on the grassy hillside.

Is there parking on site?

Yes, there are parking lots at Colaisde na Gàidhlig and free parking will be available.

Can I get accommodations on site?

During KitchenFest!, our accommodations are in use by performers and festival workers. There are many excellent options for places to stay in nearby communities.

Will camping or RV parking be available on site?

No, there are no options to camp or park an RV on site. However, there are several great options for tenting or RVs near St. Ann's, Baddeck or Boularderie that are all within a half hour drive from the Gaelic College.

I bought a ticket but now I can't attend! Can I get a refund?

No refunds will be issued. Tickets are transferable, so you will be able to pass your ticket on to someone else if you can't make it.

What is the accessibility like for people with mobility needs?

There is a paved flat path leading to the concert site. However, the concert site itself contains a short gravel path at the top of the hill and then a grassy hillside leading down to the stage.

Can I bring my service animal?

Yes, you may bring your service animal. Any animals that are not service animals will not be permitted to enter.

Are there accessible washrooms?

Yes, there is an accessible washroom on the site.

Can I leave and re-enter the concert grounds?

Yes, you will need to show proof in order to get back in, but you may leave and re-enter the concert grounds.

What should I bring?

Bring a blanket or chair, a sunshade, sunscreen, layers for the weather, whatever you need to feel comfortable during your time here.

What if I get hungry?

There will be food available from vendors on the concert grounds. It's okay to bring a snack from home.

What items are prohibited?

Alcohol (anyone that brings their own liquor will be asked to leave. Security will be monitoring parking areas as well as the concert site.), Drugs with the exception of prescribed medications, Contraband, Weapons, Professional recording equipment for audio, video or photography

When will the gates open?

The gates will open at 2 pm and the show will begin at 3 pm.

Is smoking, vaping or cannabis allowed?

No, no smoking, vaping or cannibis use will be permitted within the concert grounds. There will be a designated area for cigarette use outside the Performance Centre area.

What type of payment will be accepted on site?

Cash or debit will be available.

Can I bring my dog or other pet?

No, pets will not be allowed entry.

What kind of behaviour is expected?

We ask that you show respect for others, for property and for yourself. We take the safety of all fans, volunteers, artists, and workers very seriously.

Colaisde na Gàidhlig is first and foremost an educational non-profit institution, offering year-round programming in the culture, music, language, crafts, customs, and traditions of the immigrants from the Highlands of Scotland. The only institution of its kind in North America, students of all ages and skill levels visit the College every year to study under some of the finest instructors in Nova Scotia Gaelic culture. Each year the College organizes Féis a' Chidsin / KitchenFest!, a nine-day music festival showcasing homegrown Nova Scotian talent and venues, with shows across Cape Breton.
