The Effectiveness of Music for Individuals Living with Dementia: How and Why
Music is recognized as an effective and meaningful intervention for individuals living with Alzheimer's or dementia. Music has been used to stimulate memories, reduce anxiety, and provide opportunity for a shared activity with loved ones. This webinar will discuss various ways music can be used and why it is effective.
Dr. Cheryl Jones is an accredited music therapist, working with individuals who have sustained a brain injury or are living with a neurodegenerative disorder. She is a course instructor in the music therapy departments at Wilfrid Laurier University and at Concordia University. She serves on the advisory council for the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. Cheryl is also a registered psychotherapist. Her research interest is music-based cognitive rehabilitation.
