Description

You are invited to The Spark: Anti-Human Trafficking Training, hosted by The Salvation Army Anti-Human Trafficking Programs in Vancouver BC. This free training event, intended to spark our knowledge, awareness, and tools to effectively address this issue, is available for service providers, agencies, government, law enforcement, and businesses engaged in preventing, interventing, and supporting recovery from human trafficking.

Led by registered instructor Director Larissa Maxwell, participants will engage in:

An Overview of the Transformational Rehabilitation Programs Offered Through The Salvation Army

Human Trafficking Core Competencies, Root Causes, Responses in Canada

Survivor Inputs, Shared Utilizing Ethical Storytelling Practices

Understanding the Complex Dynamics of Exploitation

Best Practices, Appropriate Approaches, and Stories of Hope

Lunch will be provided. Please email info@deborahsgate.ca to indicate allergies or dietary needs.

The Spark will cover a difficult subject matter. No graphic imagery will be shown, but case studies and other trends will be shared which some may find troubling. Participants are encouraged to prepare before hand and after the event to be mindful of impact & building personal resilience.Staff will be available on hand should you desire debriefment.

Paid street parking is available around the building, however participants are encouraged to take transit/walk/bike. This event will have disability access (assisted doors & elevator access). The Spark will be held on the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, and we acknowledge the impacts of colonization as it relates to human trafficking, and our commitment to a de-colonizing praxis. The event will have no religious or faith components, and is supported in part by The Department of Justice Canada, and The Salvation Army.

The Spark is held offsite from our confidential program locations, is invite only, and not open to the general public.
